Đukanović: I will remember the official meeting with the Pope as one of the most memorable in my career

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

"The world has lost one of the greatest personalities of today. He was equally respected and equally mourned by believers and leaders of all religions, all people of good will, especially the poor and vulnerable," said former Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović on the occasion of the death of the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis.

Đukanović emphasizes that he received the news of the death of Pope Francis with sincere sadness, who, as he states, will be remembered as the pope who introduced historic changes in the Vatican.

"He will be remembered for his open stances on all contemporary issues and topics, who advocated for peace and dialogue and regularly spoke out on the occasion of war conflicts and disasters around the world, including our Cetinje tragedy. I will remember our official meeting as one of the most memorable in my long political career. Especially with what respect he spoke about Montenegro, about which he had long known a lot thanks to his closeness to Bishop Emili Ognjenović of our origin who ordained him. My deep condolences to all the faithful and clergy of the Catholic Church, to all who mourn one of the world's last greats - said Đukanović.
