Đukanović to Spajić: It was not the founder of the Emirates who died in 2022, but his son; I expressed my condolences to the ruling family

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

- I have no objections to the intention of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić to strengthen and further develop relations between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates, which have long been established on a friendly basis.

Precisely for this reason, and for the sake of the truth, for the sake of the Montenegrin public, I want to point out some facts that the Prime Minister misinterpreted in yesterday's address, most likely due to insufficient information - wrote on the X network former President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović.

- It was not the founder of the Emirates who died in 2022, as he said, but his son Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the then president. The founder of the Emirates was Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who died in 2004.

It is also not true that Montenegro, as a friendly country, reacted to the death of the President of the Emirates in 2022, as he claims. In my capacity as President of Montenegro and as a friend of the Al Nahyan family, I visited Abu Dhabi immediately afterwards, expressed my condolences to the ruling family and congratulated Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed on his assumption of office.

I considered it necessary to announce this also because of the relations I still have with my friends in Abu Dhabi - stated Đukanović.
