At the Municipal Election Conference, DPS Danilovgrad elected members of the Municipal Board. The conference was opened by the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Danijel Živković, emphasizing that not only did the government change after August 30 - but that then those who lived and worked to be there only to take revenge on the DPS came to power - what, how added, they always say in their public appearances.
- They say that the essence of their political existence is not to deal with the development of Montenegro, the development of Danilovgrad, it is not to work on improving and strengthening institutions. The essence of their political existence is revenge and revenge against the previous system and against the DPS. The first sentence they say after every election is that they will not join a coalition with us, and the second, in order to justify their failures that will inevitably follow, is that the DPS is to blame for everything. That could have been a justification before, but after four years it cannot be - said Živković.
According to Živković, the most difficult thing for them is to give up their armchairs.
- What we will all have the opportunity to see together when they lose the parliamentary elections. We have shown dignity through all previously realized election processes, and it is wrong when power rests on revanchism and the need to retaliate against some political entity that previously held power. When you build your politics on hatred, that hatred returns to you like a boomerang, which you can see today with our political opponents who are all divided within their ranks. This is also happening because in 2020 you abused the religious feelings of citizens. All this will only be more intense - stated Živković.
On the other hand, he says that after four years in the opposition, DPS is still the strongest political entity in Montenegro.
- Our political alternative claimed to offer liberation and reconciliation. And what that reconciliation looks like, we could see here in Pljevlje and in other Montenegrin cities where Independence Day was not celebrated, because those who exercise power in those cities want to take revenge on us who won independence, without thinking that we also made it possible for them that today there are some officials in an independent state. It is this attitude towards the state and the functions they perform in the same state. This is the reconciliation offered to us by people like Marko Kovačević. Independence Day should not be celebrated, state symbols should not be highlighted, the Constitution should be changed, the official language should be changed, dual citizenship should be introduced, we should deal with our brothers as we dealt with some others in history, this is the measure of reconciliation they offer us and finally tell us that Montenegro was never anti-fascist and that the first rifle in Europe did not fire on July 13, 1941 in Montenegro - emphasized the leader of the DPS.
He says they are clearly telling them that there is no need to make peace with them.
- We are on the right political platform, we respect the values of civilization, look among yourselves who you are and what you are doing, and we will send them a message in the elections, remove them from power and return them to the margins in the opposition where they belong . If they try to enable the importation of voters by adopting the Law on Dual Citizenship, we should oppose them not only in the Parliament, but also in other places, because intervention in that law would mean the end of Montenegro. And we are all aware of that - emphasized Živković.
He emphasized that DPS will not make rotten compromises.
- We will wait for our chance, and it is not far away. During this time we will work on our improvement. We must work on strengthening the institutions, because these institutions cannot adequately respond to the task now. Do you think that someone in Šavnik would have reached out to steal election materials if someone in the prosecutor's office had responded in a timely manner and said that it was a criminal offense and sent the culprit to prison - added the DPS leader.
He also referred to economic topics, i.e. announcements that salaries and pensions will increase.
- We are also ready to vote for it, but only when they convince us that they are doing it from realistically economically viable sources. Under their leadership, Montenegro will borrow as long as we can, and then we will start selling state resources. At the same time, in local administrations where they exercise power, such as Podgorica, Pljevlja, wages are reduced and real estate tax, the price of water, utilities, and parking are increased, all in order to pay for the political staff that they have begun to employ. They are investigating what the previous administrations did, even here in Danilovgrad. Did they find anything, no? And what now? You cannot rule forever on the basis of criticism of the previous government. That's why they quarreled in all the municipalities where they exercise power - concluded Živković, reminding that local elections in Kotor, Gusinje, Podgorica, Berane, Tivat will soon follow, and that they will be the best indicator of the new strength of our party.
