The Mayor of Budva, Nikola Jovanović, was beaten in Budva, Antena M has confirmed from multiple sources.
Jovanović was attacked near the swimming pool in the Slovenska Plaža complex and, according to initial information, sustained serious bodily injuries. He is currently hospitalized in Kotor.
Reportedly, police are searching for three brothers, one of whom is registered as a member of an organized criminal group (OCG), while the other two are members of the New Serbian Democracy party (NSD).
Vijesti reports that Jovanović told the police he was attacked by brothers Jovo and Vidak Mitrović, along with two other individuals. Vidak is a functionary of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) in Budva and a member of the Board of Directors of “Morsko dobro” (Public Maritime Property Enterprise). Jovo Mitrović is listed as a person of security interest (PSI).
It is assumed that the attack was politically motivated and is a consequence of long-standing tensions between Jovanović and the NSD.
