White House announces trade deal with China

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

The White House announced today that it has reached a trade agreement with China as the two countries negotiated for a second day in Switzerland, US media reported today, while China has not yet commented on today's talks between the two sides in Geneva.

"We are confident that the agreement that we have reached with our Chinese partners will help us work to resolve this national emergency," US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer told reporters in Geneva.

However, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said that "significant progress" had been made, but stopped short of offering a full deal.

President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with the United Kingdom on Thursday - the first in a series of deals that the White House says it hopes will be signed while the reciprocal tariff break is in effect.

Trump said on his social media that the next post on his Truth Social channel would be one of his most important.

"My next TRUTH will be one of the most important and impactful I have ever released. ENJOY," Trump wrote in a message broadcast by ABC News tonight, without specifying what the US president's message might refer to.
