Ukraine repelled a mass attack by Russian aircraft on Kiev

The Ukrainian Air Force shot down, during the night, 53 of the 56 detected Russian drones aimed at Kiev.
Ukrainian forces said the "main target" of the bombing was the capital, while military authorities reported a "massive" Russian attack, the eighth in Kiev this month.
The head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, said that a woman was hospitalized after being injured by fragments of a downed drone, Radio Free Europe reports.
The head of the city's military administration, Sergei Popko, said Kiev was under attack for more than three hours overnight, as air defenses shot down "almost two dozen enemy drones around the capital".
Russia repeatedly bombarded Ukraine with drones, rockets and various types of missiles during the 36-month invasion.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently called on the United States and other allies to "quickly implement" agreements on arms and other supplies to help fight the invasion.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said on September 10 that he hoped the second major peace summit would be based on a similar gathering in Switzerland three months ago aimed at ending the war.
