With the screening of the film "Divertimento", a true story about music that can change society, and a performance by the band Glumci pjevaju, the European Film Festival began at the Music Center of Montenegro, which, in addition to Podgorica, is also held in Bijelo Polje and Bar.
"This year, we are organizing a film festival in three cities, with greater support from the Cineuropa platform, from which the films were taken. These are European feature films, animated films and documentaries that have won awards. The films are accompanied by a cultural and educational program. Tonight we open with the band Glumci pjevaju, which will also close the festival, and an educational workshop for children will be organized in Bijelo Polje,” said Manja Babić from the European House.
The European Film Festival, it was announced at the opening, is one of the most important cultural events of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, and the film Divertomento was chosen to open the festival precisely because it celebrates diversity, inclusion and resilience, values that are the core of European identity.
“The European Film Festival is part of the broader celebration of Europe Month, which we celebrated throughout Montenegro during May. This year's program included numerous cultural and public events. In each municipality, we celebrated in a different way, with local creativity and engagement. Tonight's festival night is dedicated to music - a universal language that transcends borders, erases differences and connects people across generations and cultures.
The Delegation of the European Union is proud to support all these initiatives, which best reflect the strong and ever-deepening ties between the European Union and the citizens of Montenegro”, said Riccardo Seri, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro.
The European Film Festival continues with a panel discussion with actor Momčilo Otašević and a screening of the Danish comedy Fathers and Mothers. After that, the festival moves to Bijelo Polje and Bar.
Partners of the festival are the Montenegrin Cinematheque, the Music and Film Centre of Montenegro, the NGO Multimedia, the Cultural Centre of Bijelo Polje and the Cultural Centre of Bar.
