A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck off the west coast of Turkey, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said. One person was killed.
The epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 68 km (42 miles) in the sea near the coastal town of Marmaris, just a few kilometers from the Greek island of Rhodes, according to EMSC.
Marmaris Governor Idris Akbiyuk said in a post on Iks that a 14-year-old girl was hospitalized but died.
He added that 69 people were injured after jumping from their homes during the earthquake.
No damage to buildings was reported in Marmaris itself.
- Our damage assessment teams are continuing operations on the ground. No destruction has been observed so far - said Urban Planning Minister Murat Kurum.
Many seaside resorts, including Marmaris, Fethiye and Bodrum, are located in the province of Mula.
