Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said today that the army will continue attacks on Beirut if Lebanon does not disarm Hezbollah. "There will be no peace in Beirut, no order or stability in Lebanon, without security for the State of Israel. The agreements must be respected, and if you do not do what is necessary, we will continue to act, and with great force," Katz said.
The Israeli minister was responding to statements by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, who condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory and called them a "flagrant violation" of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on November 27, N1 reports.
"You must ensure that the Lebanese army actually implements the ceasefire agreement," Israel Katz's statement said.
Israel targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, for the fourth time yesterday since the ceasefire between Israel and the Islamist movement.
