Eight more cases of leptospirosis infection were recorded in Sarajevo Canton (KS) today, the Institute of Public Health of Sarajevo Canton announced.
It is stated that so far there are no confirmed cases of leptospirosis infection in the Sarajevo municipalities of Hadžići, Vogošća, Ilijaša and Trnovo.
According to the latest data from the Institute of Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, a total of 43 cases of the disease have been reported, while none of the cases have resulted in death.
Currently, three patients are being treated at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS), and the condition of the remaining patients is being monitored in accordance with epidemiological protocols.
An epidemic of leptospirosis, a disease transmitted from rodents to humans, most often through contaminated water, was previously declared in Sarajevo Canton.
