Orban: Western Balkans should come first

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he firmly supports North Macedonia on its path to the EU and that Hungary appreciates Skopje's leadership in the fight against illegal migration.

"Hungary appreciates your leadership in the fight against illegal migration and stands firmly with you on your path to EU membership. While many insist on an accelerated process for a country at war, we believe that the Western Balkans should come first. You can count on us," Orban posted on the "X" network after meeting with North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.

Mickoski said that "the conversation focused on the excellent bilateral cooperation, as well as on the possibilities for its further deepening".

"Hungary is our sincere friend, a strong supporter of Macedonia's European integration and an important strategic partner. In the conversation, I emphasized that Macedonia remains firmly committed to its European path, to achieving its European perspective and to preserving stability in the region," the Prime Minister of North Macedonia said, Srna reports.
