Ukayinian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that members of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), who were preparing the special operation "Network" in which four Russian military airfields were attacked with drones, were quickly withdrawn from Russian territory.
Zelensky said in a Facebook post that the operation had been planned "for a year, six months and nine days," Ukrinform reported.
"The most interesting thing - and it can already be said publicly now - the 'office' of our operation on the territory of Russia was located right next to the administration of the Russian FSB in one of their regions," he said.
A total of 117 drones were used in the operation, he added.
"About 34 percent of the strategic cruise missile carriers at the base's airfields were set on fire. Our people operated in different Russian regions - in three time zones. Our people were also removed from Russian territory on the eve of the operation, now they are safe - those who helped us," Zelensky said.
He added that he had listened to the report of the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk, regarding this special operation.
"An absolutely brilliant result. An independent result of Ukraine. Our people who prepared the operation were withdrawn from Russian territory on time," Zelensky stressed.
He said that he had ordered the SBU to inform the public about the details and results of the operation, which may be published.
"Of course, we cannot say everything now, but these are Ukrainian actions that will definitely be in history textbooks. Ukraine is defending itself, and quite rightly so - we are doing everything to make Russia feel the need to end this war. Russia started this war, Russia must end it," Zelensky said.
As reported by Ukrinform, the SBU today conducted a unique special operation called "Network", during which four Russian airports - Belaya, Diaghilev, Olenya and Ivanovo - were hit with drones.
More than 40 Russian aircraft were reportedly hit during this operation, including A-50, Tu-95 and Tu-22 M3.
