Gorčević on the passing of the IBAR law: The most difficult part of the work is behind us, the MPs showed their European partners that Montenegro really sees itself as a member of the EU

AUTHOR: M.J.
I have to praise the work of the Government and Parliament of Montenegro, because all political parties, regardless of whether they are part of the parliamentary majority or the opposition, sent a message to our European partners last night that Montenegro really sees itself as a member of the European Union - the minister pointed out. of European affairs, Maida Gorčević, after the adoption of several laws necessary for obtaining the Report on the fulfillment of temporary criteria in chapters 23 and 24 (IBAR) was completed last night in the Assembly.

She, in a guest appearance on Television Montenegro's Dnevnik, said that the work is not finished as far as obtaining the IBAR is concerned.

- The most difficult part of the job is behind us, but the part that involves diplomacy awaits us. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs played a key role in the previous months, and in the coming days diplomatic activity will be much faster, and the dynamics much more difficult. It is necessary to explain to the members where Montenegro is now in the negotiations, and the MFA will be in charge of ensuring that all 27 EU member states vote for obtaining IBAR at the end of June - Gorčević explained.

When asked if she expects the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, to sign all the laws, she replied that she personally believes that he will sign them, but that he has already announced that he will not sign some laws and return them to the parliament.

- The eventual non-signing of the law does not endanger IBAR and the signing of the law, when we have a situation where almost all laws in the parliament have been unanimously adopted, cannot endanger the road. If they are not signed in the following days, they will be signed after the second set of votes, and the process of EU integration cannot be slowed down - Gorčević pointed out.

According to her, the difficult road is yet to come, after receiving the IBAR.

- Montenegro is closer to the goal of joining the EU - Gorčević assessed.

Speaking about the reconstruction of the Government that is coming in June, she said that the partners in the European Union are most interested in the results.

- I am sure that the expansion of the Government will in no way affect the path of EU integration. I believe that after IBAR, the further dynamics of the Government's work should be discussed, but I believe that if the Government delivers results, no international partner should be worried - emphasized Gorčević.
