We intensified the talks about the joint performance of the sovereignist bloc and it may happen that some agreement is reached, said the vice-president of the Social Democrats of Montenegro, Danilo Orlandić, as a guest on the program "I know you know" by Gradska RTV.
If there is no agreement, the Social Democrats are ready to go to the elections independently and repeat the results they had in the previous period, emphasizes Orlandić, reminding that where they went independently in the local elections, they achieved excellent results.
During the presidential elections, we continued our party activities, so that now we have come from extremely important elections for Montenegro, and as we have said many times, we are preparing as if we are going to go to the elections independently. This implies daily work in the field and additional talks with former members of the sovereignist bloc - said Orlandić.
He reminds that a movement called Europe Now has grown up in Montenegro and is one of the main favorites to win the largest number of seats in the Parliament.
When you have such a situation, you have to make decisions very carefully because of everything that needs to happen in the future. We have always made strategic decisions in a quality manner. The situation is not easy and one should not shy away from saying how things are. Now when you have a situation where you have the victory of the presidential candidate of a block that has almost been formed, where you have a situation where they have both a mayor and a future prime minister, accordingly, you have to think about the best possible models - pointed out Orlandić.
When it comes to a joint performance in Podgorica at the local elections, the polls said that there is a synergistic effect in accordance with what, he points out, they behaved, but it turned out that the better option was to go out in several columns, as was the case in Bar.
In Bar, we showed an excellent election result. The government in Bar depends on the Social Democrats of Montenegro, and I can already see that the citizens recognize all the good things we have done in the past few months, and I believe that we will continue with this policy - said Orlandić.
If it comes from a joint parliamentary appearance, he believes that there will be people on that list who will show discontinuity with earlier policies and expects that the sovereignist bloc will come out with a new offer in the coming days and months.
In one of the last texts, Andrej Nikolaidis pointed this out well and said that we should give hope to those who are still with us and present what we stand for in a better way - said Orlandić.
Commenting on the political situation in Montenegro, he considers that the work of the previous two governments cannot be separated.
Both the government of Zdravko Krivokapić and the government of Dritan Abazović significantly distanced Montenegro from the European Union. This is what our offer needs to be intensified in the coming period - a clear, efficient and fast path to the EU: The two previous governments did not show stability in the direction of the development of Montenegro, but that political matters were much more important to them - said Orlandić.
He believes that the absence of a strategic approach characterizes the work of the previous two governments.
The moves they are making are not long-term. You have a situation like with the Kamenari - Lepetane ferry. The state needs to show its strength by stopping illegal activities, but that does not mean that you should prevent citizens from having functional traffic when you know that it is the lifeblood of the entire tourism and economy of Montenegro. You called into question the work that this private company does, and now we are already in a situation where it rents a plane from that same company - pointed out Orlandić.
Among the government's decisions, the one that led to the shutdown of the Montenegrin airline Montenegroairlinez is particularly devastating.
The fact is that 750,000 passengers will be brought to Montenegro by MA in 2019. This is data that is accurate and that you cannot obscure with the story that the new airline is doing great because that is not true. MA had six planes during the season, and the new carrier has two. You cannot compare 750,000 passengers and 150,000 passengers that we have now - said Orlandić.
According to Orlandić, the operation of the Airport of Montenegro is also questionable.
Airports serve as hubs for low-cost airlines. If you have the situation that the airports of Montenegro have a profit of 1.4 million euros per year and that they gave close to 8 million incentives. This is where we see that something is wrong. And when we warned about the harmfulness of concluded incentive schemes, no one wanted to talk about it. He believes that the elections on June 11 are extremely necessary for Montenegro.
A stable political situation is needed, we are crying out for a serious government and I hope that this will happen after the elections. If it does not happen, you will continue to see the dismantling of institutions, the economy and the state - concluded Orlandić.
