Montenegrin women beat Poland, with Sweden for third place in the group

The women's handball team of Montenegro defeated the Polish selection 30:28 today in Debrecen, in the match of the third round of the main round of the European Championship in Austria, Hungary and Switzerland.

With this victory, the first in the main round, the Montenegrin women's handball team remained in the race for fifth place in the championship.

The team of coach Suzana Lazović did not shine, but even that was enough to outplay POLAND and achieve victory, although a little more difficult than expected.

Poland opened the match better and in the 11th minute gained a three-goal advantage (8:5), while after four consecutive goals they took the lead of 18:16 in the 36th minute.

Montenegro responded to its rival with a 4:0 run and turned the score around to 20:18 in the 42nd minute, while seven minutes later it gained a four-goal lead for the first time (26:22).

It had the same lead in the 59th minute, but
Poland managed to mitigate the defeat.

The most efficient player in the winning team was Đurđina Jauković with eight, Tatjana Brnović and Itana Grbić scored five each, and Matea Pletikosić scored one goal less.

The best player in the Polish team was Monika Kobilinska with six, while Karolina Kočaniak - Sala finished the match with five goals.

Montenegro will play Sweden in the last round of the main round, on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
