Croatian footballer Luka Modrić is definitely leaving Real Madrid, the "royal club" confirmed on social networks, but also the Croat on Instagram with an emotional letter.
What the Croatian media announced today has come true – Luka Modrić is no longer a Real Madrid footballer.
The "Royal Club" made a statement on the occasion, posting a photo with a short message:
"Thank you, Luka!", reads the post on Real's official profile on the social network X.
Luka Modrić also made a statement on his official profile, sending an emotional letter to all fans, which we are publishing in full:
"Dear Madridistas,
The time has come. A moment I never wanted to come, but that's football, and in life everything has a beginning and an end.
On Saturday I will play my last match at the Santiago Bernabeu.
I came in 2012 with the desire to wear the jersey of the best club in the world and with the ambition to achieve great things, but I could not have imagined this.
Playing for Real has changed my life, it has transformed me both as a player and as a person.
I am proud to have been part of the team in one of the most successful eras in the club's history. I want to thank the club with all my heart, especially president Florentino Perez, my teammates, coaches and everyone who helped me.
I experienced incredible moments during these years, some reversals that seemed impossible, finals, celebrations and magical nights at the Bernabeu... We won everything and I was really happy. Very, very happy.
But, above all the titles and victories, I carry in my heart the love for the Madrid fans. I really don't know how to explain the bond I have with you who support, respect and love us. I always felt that. I will never forget any applause, any gesture of love you gave me.
I leave with a full heart. Filled with pride, gratitude and unforgettable memories. Although, after the Club World Cup, I will no longer be a club duo on the pitch, I will forever be a Madrid fan.
