Montenegro's U18 water polo players are the new European champions!!! The young sharks strolled through the Old Continent championship, and in the grand final they completely outplayed Serbia by a huge 13:9!
They fell in the group to Serbia, Croatia, Spain, in the quarterfinals to France, in the semifinals to Italy, and in the final there was no doubt - led by captain Strahinja Gojković, our boys powerfully reached the gold!!
In an impressive manner, the young men led by Nebojša Milić adorned themselves with the European crown. They recorded all six triumphs - they started and ended the series against Serbia, and between the victories over their great rival, Croatia, Spain, France and Italy fell.
Such dominance and a gold medal achieved with maximum performance have not been seen at major competitions of junior teams for a long time.
The final was only even in the first quarter - until the score was 2:2, after which a demonstration of skill and strength in the pool by our young men began.
The defense was maximally focused, Marko Pejović was brilliant in goal as usual, and in attack this generation has many diverse options.
With a 3:0 series, goals by Danilo Stupar and twice by Miljan Bošković, Montenegro broke away for the first time, and until the end it completely controlled the game, although Serbia threatened in the middle of the third quarter and reduced the score to 8:6.
The "sharks" responded with a new series - four goals (Bošković, Stupar, Strahinja Gojković and Relja Vukanić) by the end of that period for an unattainable 12:6.
And just like in the semi-final, against Italy, the countdown could have already begun before the last eight minutes - it was clear who the European gold belonged to, who would celebrate the title.
