"This is for you, Shana": Luis Enrique and his family dedicated the trophy to his deceased daughter

10 years ago, when Luis Enrique won his first European Championship title, the "show" was stolen by his then five-year-old daughter Shana, who ended up in her father's arms after the victory over Juventus and waved the flag of Catalonia and Barça.

No one had any idea that the photo of little Shana would become iconic, but for the worst possible reason - her death in 2019. Luć's daughter died of osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, and five months of fighting and "living" in the hospital did not help. There was no salvation.

Enrique found a way to survive the tragedy, and the world was touched by his interview for "Movistar Plus" in October last year, when he said that her death motivated him to confront everything that life brings him.

A few days before the final, he recalled her and the famous scenes from Berlin.

"I want to be able to do the same with the Paris Saint-Germain flag. My daughter will not be there physically, but she will be there spiritually and that is very important to me," said the expert from Gijón.

PSG "crushed" Inter in the final and recorded the most convincing victory in the history of the Champions League final (5:0), and Enrique did not unfurl the flag, but a Paris Saint-Germain scarf. The flag was on his shirt, as a symbol of the "Shan Foundation", which he founded with his wife Elena after a family tragedy. Instead of Shana, Elena, daughter Sira and son Paco were now with him on the pitch.

PSG fans also unfurled a huge banner showing the same drawing, with Shana wearing the number 8 jersey in the colors of the Parisian club.

"Shana is with me in victory and defeat, even more so in defeat. My whole family is with me - brothers, children, wife. This is not a moment for sadness or tears. Shana will always be with me and our family. We have to enjoy it," Enrique said after the final, emphasizing that the mural dedicated to him by the fans "was incredible."
