Israel rockets Beirut, killing one; IDF claims it targeted Hezbollah member

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

At least three people were killed and seven were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut this morning, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.

The Israeli military said in a statement that the attack targeted a Hezbollah member who posed an "imminent threat to Israeli civilians."

On Friday, Israeli warplanes bombed and destroyed a building in the Hadat neighborhood of Beirut's southern suburbs, marking the first Israeli attack on the area since a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah was reached on November 27, 2024.

A fragile ceasefire has been in place in Lebanon since November, ending a months-long cross-border war between Israel and Hezbollah that escalated into a full-scale conflict in June that left thousands dead.
