The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a group suspected of collaborating with the Russian military intelligence service (GRU) in directing missile attacks on Kiev.
Three men, including a Russian citizen, were detained, the SBU said in a statement. The group is accused of working with the GRU to direct Russian missiles at military factories, weapons systems of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and ammunition depots.
The Russian citizen allegedly set up an observation post on the roof of a multi-story building, which was used to adjust the fire of Russian strikes.
According to the SBU, he lived in Ukraine in "standby mode" until he was activated by Russian security services.
The other two defendants are current and former employees of Ukrainian defense companies. One was allegedly gathering intelligence on the aftermath of Russian missile strikes on factories and repair facilities, while the other sought information from his former colleagues about potential targets.
