Around 40 people were killed in new Israeli military attacks on the Gaza Strip, including a journalist crew from the Al Jazeera media outlet, as well as civilians trying to receive humanitarian aid, local health officials said today.
Hospital sources said that 34 people were killed in the attacks yesterday and today, including an Al Jazeera crew that, according to the Israeli military, was targeted by a rocket because one of the journalists allegedly collaborated with the militant Islamist group Hamas.
Children were among the victims, eyewitnesses said, adding that Israeli soldiers today shot at civilians who were trying to receive humanitarian aid from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) points near the Morag Corridor.
According to the health ministry in Gaza, since the start of the new aid distribution system in May, 1,700 civilians have been killed in mostly ground attacks by the Israeli army. In the last 24 hours, five more Palestinians, including a child, died of hunger.
