On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Podgorica in World War II, KIC Pop Choir and friends organized a big concert "Without a Dilemma - Antifascism" at Bemax Arena.
On the occasion of December 19, on the occasion of this great and important anniversary of Podgorica, the KIC pop choir invited the children's choir Zvjezdice, the orchestra of the Army of Montenegro, as well as musicians: Bojan Marović, Tina Džankić, Božo Bulatović, Tanja Šeter, Nina Strugar, Radojica Stanković, Petar Martinović, the soloist of the choir "Luča" from Cetinje, and the soloists of the KIC pop choir - Anđela Mićović, Igor Đurić and Mladen Begović - also performed, who sang timeless melodies with the popular Podgorica choir: Bilećanka, Teče Tara, Mlada partizanka, Računajte na nas, Odyssey, Oj đevojko drugarice, Konjuh planinom, Uz marshal Tito and many others.
In front of a large audience, more than 150 performers created musical magic under the batons of four conductors: Zoja Đurović, Ivana Vlajnić, Ana Klepić and Milo Belević.
“Podgorica, as the capital of Montenegro, deserves such a great musical and stage spectacle. This is truly the power of love and respect for the homeland and the city – all on the stage of the Bemax Arena for the first time in the history of this facility. We have been preparing for a long time, although this is the 45th concert from the project “Without a Dilemma – Antifascism”, it is the first in such a large hall and on such an important anniversary,” said the manager of the KIC pop choir and the creative and executive director of the project “Without a Dilemma – Antifascism” Snežana Burzan Vuksanović.
The concert is co-organized by Matica Crnogorska, the Union of Associations of NOR Fighters and Antifascists of Montenegro and UBNOR Podgorica, with the support of the Secretariat for Culture of Podgorica and the donors of the concert, Podgorica companies and individuals, whom the choir thanks for their support.
“We had to find a lot of friends, donors, sponsors to cover all these costs, but the people of Podgorica are generous and gave us great support. That’s why we were able to enjoy ourselves like this tonight,” added Burzan Vuksanović.
Support for last night’s concert from the audience was provided by a large number of guests from the political, cultural and public life of Montenegro, including the Ambassador of North Macedonia to Montenegro, Zećir Ramčilović.
“As for affirming and sending messages of anti-fascism, the KIC pop choir does it in the best possible way. This is a nice opportunity for me to remember the event in Skopje, where the KIC pop choir was a guest on the occasion of the celebration of July 13th, which was organized at the time by the Embassy of Montenegro in Macedonia. I believe that this is a gift, but also a message for Podgorica, all citizens of Montenegro, but also for our region, which is based on anti-fascism,” said Ambassador Ramčilović.
A regular guest at the KIC Pop Choir performances is the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Montenegro, Branimir Jukić.
“I would like to remind you of the KIC Pop Choir’s performances in Bosnia and Herzegovina and I would especially highlight the performance in Konjic. They sang songs that we all know and songs from our better past. We absolutely need to preserve our tradition, because it is the system of values on which, after all, we were all born and raised. These are the values that are the foundation of Europe itself. The KIC Pop Choir has always been great, and for that it receives our support,” said Ambassador Jukić.
The numerous audience gathered in the Bemax Arena rewarded all the hard work and great talent of all the participants in last night’s musical spectacle with thunderous applause and ovations.
The manager of the KIC pop choir and the creative and executive director of the project "Without a Dilemma - Antifascism" Snežana Burzan Vuksanović expressed her satisfaction with such success, and reminded that the popular Podgorica choir, which works within the framework of the NGO Kutak, has held more than 120 concerts throughout Montenegro and the region in seven and a half years of existence, in Sarajevo, Belgrade, Zagreb, Skopje, Subotica, Vrbas, Jajce, Prijepolje, Konjic, Pula, and Tjentište.
"The love for music, socializing, performances, concerts, and tours is what has brought together about 60 people in the KIC pop choir from the first day. However, the choir is a living thing, it changes, people come and go. We still endlessly believe in the goodness of man and antifascism - this civilizational achievement should be in the hearts of all of us. We should also promote it with a song, and we are doing that in Podgorica for its anniversary on December 19th with this great anti-fascist spectacle,” said Burzan Vuksanović.
She announced that an audition for new members of the KIC pop choir will be held in February 2025, and that they will thus expand their musical family.
“Everyone is welcome. It is important that they are similar to us, that they know and love to sing, and that they invest their free time in rehearsals that are sometimes difficult and demanding, but we really do not believe that results can be achieved without hard work and a lot of love,” said Burzan Vuksanović.
