After learning about the winners of the Thirteenth of July Award, I feel a duty and obligation to address the Montenegrin public, not only for myself, because my greatest award is you - my numerous audience throughout Montenegro and the diaspora, but also because of the injustice done to all this year's candidates for this most prestigious state award was given by the interpreter of Montenegrin traditional folk song, Branka Šćepanović.
She appealed to the decision makers.
- With my professional reputation, I want to appeal to the decision-makers to stop the practice of open political manipulations that are evidently present when it comes to awarding this state award. I claim this because as soon as the competition for the Thirteenth Prize was announced, I received information about who the lifetime achievement winners will be - Šćepanović added.
Until that moment, as she pointed out, as someone who loves her country, she respected Montenegrin institutions and considered them serious and professional.
