Ćulafić attended the funeral of the Archbishop of the Orthodox Church of Albania

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

The Archbishop of the Albanian Autocephalous Church, Anastasios Janullatos, passed away on January 25, at the age of 95. The funeral ceremony was held at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana.

The representative of the Montenegrin minority in Albania, Marinko Ćulafić, was also present, and signed the book of condolences: “For our unforgettable Archbishop! On behalf of the Montenegrin national minority, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done for the faith and the Orthodox believers. May your memory be eternal!”.

We are publishing Ćulafić’s announcement in its entirety:

“Bitter news and an irreparable loss today for all of us Orthodox believers! The Archbishop of the Autocephalous Church of Albania, His Eminence Anastasios Janullatos, has passed away!

In 1992, God brought Him at the most critical moment for the Autocephalous Church of Albania, destroyed and exhausted in the dark years of communism. His work on the restoration of churches and monasteries from the ground up is already known, as well as his long-term contribution to charity!

But what I want to emphasize today on this day of mourning and what makes the character of His Holiness Anastas the most outstanding of all religious leaders in the world is his personality as an intellectual of world caliber! In addition to being an excellent theologian and missionary, he was a doctor of science awarded by more than 50 universities around the world with the "Doctor Honoris Causa" award, a rare polyglot (he knew 11 foreign languages), the author of 24 books, awarded with 27 medals and awards from Orthodox churches and various countries, etc.

However, he lived a humble life, leaving behind his extraordinary work as God's missionary! His memory is eternal".
