At least 20 people were injured, some seriously, including a child, after a car plowed into a crowd of people in central Munich this morning.
Police confirm they fired on vehicle
It was previously reported that witnesses told German newspaper Bild that police fired on the vehicle after it hit a group of people.
Police have now confirmed they fired on the vehicle – it is not known at this stage whether it caused any injuries to the perpetrator.
Afghan arrested
According to police, the suspect is a 24-year-old Afghan national, who is an asylum seeker.
Police added that they do not believe the incident is linked to the Munich Security Conference, which begins tomorrow.
