Milatović spoke with Milanović: It is a mutual duty to remember the victims with reverence, and not to trade them politically

AUTHOR: M.J.
It is a mutual duty to remember all the victims of the genocide in Jasenovac with reverence, and not to politically trade both the victims and the crime, said the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović in his conversation with his Croatian colleague Zoran Milanović.
Milatović announced on the X network that he spoke with Milanović after the Resolution on Genocide in the Jasenovac, Dachau and Mauthausen camp system was adopted yesterday in the parliament.
- We agreed that it is our mutual duty to reverently remember all the victims of the genocide in Jasenovac; and not to trade politically with the victims and the crime, which no one denies and whose anniversaries have been officially marked for decades - stressed Milatović.
Milatović pointed out that on the foreign policy front, Montenegro's priority is good neighborly relations and EU integration.
- The Republic of Croatia is our first EU neighbor, so we must pay special attention to preserving good mutual relations - said Milatović on the X network.
Last night, the Parliament of Montenegro supported the initiative of the pro-Serbian current in Montenegro with the votes of 41 deputies from the parliamentary majority, while the deputy Ilir Capuni from the Albanian Alliance voted against.
Deputies of the Albanian Forum, Artan Čobi and Nikola Camaj, boycotted yesterday's session.
The majority of opposition MPs decided to leave the assembly hall during the vote, believing that this document was adopted at the behest of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and that it could threaten Montenegro's European path and relations with Croatia. They warned that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and his Evropa Sad Movement will be directly responsible for any consequences.
Two PES MPs, Tonći Janović and Miodrag Laković, unlike their colleagues, did not vote for the Resolution. Laković assessed that this issue should have been postponed until next year and that he should have made a statement about it after the dialogue with the Croatian National Community, Croatia and Serbia.
Independent MPs Radinka Ćinćur and Jevrosima Pejović did not vote either.
