Nikolić: Mandić fears every meeting of Spajić with the ambassadors of the Quint because he could be removed; Mugoša: They are suffering for Budva today

Representatives of the parliamentary opposition held a press conference in the Parliament of Montenegro.

Andrija Nikolić from the DPS said that they considered it important to inform the public about their proposal for overcoming the crisis.

The proposed agreement on overcoming the crisis has six points.

"1. Stopping the procedure for electing a judge of the Constitutional Court with a coordinated address by the authorities and the opposition to the Venice Commission in order to obtain an opinion regarding the decision of the Constitutional Committee of 17 December 2024.

2. Until the opinion of the Venice Commission is received, enabling a debate on the draft law on the budget of Montenegro for 2025 and related laws in order to overcome the difficult financial situation in which Montenegro finds itself.

3. Except for the debate on the draft law on the budget of Montenegro for 2025 and related laws, the Parliament would not meet until the Venice Commission delivers its opinion.

4. The Parliament of Montenegro will, within seven days at the latest from the submission of the opinion of the Venice Commission, take all necessary steps for its full implementation.

5. Signing a political platform between the authorities and the opposition, by which the parliamentary parties undertake not to propose solutions that divide the public, including amendments to the Constitution of Montenegro and the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship, without previously securing a general political consensus.

6. With the aforementioned platform, representatives of parliamentary parties would commit to full commitment to fulfilling Montenegro's obligations on its path to joining the EU.

This is the text of the agreement that did not see the light of day at yesterday's Collegium session because Andrija Mandić wanted to stop any possibility of reaching an agreement between the government and the opposition," Nikolić stated.

He added that Mandić was betrayed by his nervousness and patience after the expected political outcome in Budva.

"And what did the political outcome in Budva tell us? That Mandić has lost control of his standard stronghold

and that neither Vučić nor his ventriloquist, embodied in the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, have managed to resolve the situation in Budva," Nikolić stated.

He added that Mandić is wary of any meeting between Milojko Spajić and the ambassadors of the Quint and representatives of Western countries in Montenegro.

"Because he fears that he could be removed from the parliamentary majority. And by all means, he wants to prevent any constructiveness and the creation of some common bridges that would support Montenegro's faster path to the European Union. So, I conclude that yesterday's measure that Andrija Mandić pronounced against the opposition is a measure of a desperate person. A measure of a desperate person who has fear, and that fear was transferred to him from Belgrade by his boss who is facing big problems and now wants to move those problems to Montenegro. We have repeated it a hundred times, Andrija Mandić has no interest in Montenegro being a member of the European Union and will constantly create incidents to complicate and stop that path," Nikolić said.

Boris Mugoša states that he is not too interested in Mandić's behavior, because he has 13 MPs and the majority has 53 MPs and he manages them.

"Today, this session was scheduled in an incredible way, which is proof of the privatization of this institution. "I received a message at 11:59 that the continuation is at 1:00 p.m.," Mugoša said.

Someone, he says, is treating his complexes by saying that he liked holding a certain position.

"The message was sent only to us who can attend, and not to other MPs, and everyone should be aware of that. You saw today's sad debate and what it looks like in Parliament," Mugoša said.

Today, he says, they are suffering for Budva.

"They want to keep their seats at all costs," Mugoša said.

Nikolić added that now the ball is in the court of the parliamentary majority.

"If there is an interest in talking to the opposition, then Mandić will suspend the measures he has adopted. It depends on them whether there is a willingness to continue talks with the majority. If they continue with this, the opposition will have an adequate response," he said.

Mugoša said that the story that Mandić has the approval of international partners is not true.

Nikolić says that it is not in their interest for the parliament to not work.

"Our political entity is between 28 and 29% of support, maybe it suits someone that we are not in the parliament so that these feints can go through more easily. The agreement proposed by the parliamentary majority only has an address to the Venice Commission and nothing more... it more or less represents what the parliamentary majority advocates. If they are interested in making an agreement, let them withdraw the measures and we are ready to sit down at the table and talk about it," Nikolić said.
