At the Municipal Election Conference, DPS Ulcinj elected members of the Municipal Board. The conference was opened by the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Danijel Živković.
Živković pointed out that serious and responsible politics deals with itself first, and only then with political competition.
"The time spent in the opposition gave us a good picture of what we need to change in our approach and where we made mistakes in the previous period. It is true, we have done a lot for Montenegro, we have restored independence, we have traced the European path, but in recent years we have moved away from what is the essence of engaging in politics - citizens and improving the standard of living. We started to get carried away that we couldn't be defeated and we got a warning on August 30th. And it is good that it is so, so that we ourselves understand where we are making mistakes and what needs to be corrected in order to be an integral part of the government in the future. We must dedicate ourselves to the citizens and that is the only way to successful politics. If we continue to work like this here, in Ulcinj, I have no doubt that even after two years, we will continue to exercise power here," said Živković.
Živković reminded those present that DPS had experienced a very difficult period in the previous four years.
"Projections that we will disappear, media satanization, criminalization of the previous value system and individuals from that system, an attempt from various regional centers, especially from Belgrade, to impose the thesis that this is a criminalized society, sovereignists and those who participated in the restoration of Montenegrin independence are all under the veil of crime and corruption. Generalization to damage an idea and to justify the thesis that Montenegro was created as a private state. After four years spent in the opposition, we managed to strengthen our party, which was proven in the previously held local elections, all thanks to people who remained persistent and faithful to the principles of DPS, who did not falter in the face of the onslaught of political and any other revanchism, who believe into this idea. We will try to build partnerships on the political scene on sound foundations, to agree on key directions of action, if that is not possible, we will wait for our chance for a while longer, because the way the Government is working now gives us enough reason to believe that it will not last much longer . You have heard what their plan is - to introduce dual citizenship and thus, through peaceful means, the easiest way to deal with Montenegro, and then to change state symbols, the Constitution... We will not allow that. We don't have to be a government at the state level, but we will be a barrier to such an idea. Because under the mentorship of Belgrade, today we are at odds with everyone in the region, and the worst thing is that when we met them, we also had an argument with Serbia. No one looks at us friendly anymore. And no normal person looks forward to that," Živković pointed out.
