Family and friends gather Friday, honoring the life of Jessica Young-Thomas who was shot and killed earlier this week, her loved ones releasing balloons in her memory.
The 25-year-old was killed in a domestic-violence shooting in the 2900 block of Searles Avenue Wednesday night.
She was rushed to a local hospital but later died of her injuries, those who knew her said prayers before releasing the balloons.
Thomas’s parents say she was a great mom, aunt, sister and a goofy, silly daughter.
“When the balloons are releasing, it means a lot. And hopefully by sending the balloons up... Everyone wanna know that she’s in heaven. She’s safe” said Jessica’s father Jessie Thomas.
“This is my third run. I have a sister and her children that are gone from domestic, I have a cousin that is gone from domestic, and now I’m standing here with a daughter, gone from domestic. This is no joke.” said Jessica’s mother Margaret Young.
