Photojournalist and journalist for Pobjeda and Reuters agency Stevo Vasiljević was physically attacked today in front of a church in Gornji Zaostr, Pobjeda has learned.
In addition to Vasiljević, Vijesti photojournalist Boris Pejović and their journalist Balsa Rudović were also physically attacked.
During the attack by the riotous crowd, Vasiljević's camera was destroyed and a significant part of his equipment was damaged. The attack occurred at around 2:20 p.m., at the moment when the monument to Pavle Đurišić was being removed and moved to the church.
The journalist teams were then attacked, and thanks to the calm reaction of a few locals, more serious violence and even a possible lynching were avoided. Vasiljević, Rudović and Pejović, visibly shaken, were urgently evacuated from Gornji Zaostr.
The entire incident took place in front of the police, who did not react in a timely manner.
Regarding the attack, the editor-in-chief of Pobjeda spoke with the acting director of the Police Administration, Lazar Šćepanović, to whom he reported this serious incident.
