Democratic Representative in the US House of Representatives Shri Thanedar has officially submitted an initiative to impeach US President Donald Trump to the parliamentary procedure.
The initiative of the congressman from the state of Michigan states that Trump is "unfit to be president" and that he "represents a danger to American society and the Constitution."
Among other things, Thanedar accused Trump in his initiative of corruption, abuse of power, obstruction of justice and bribery.
"We must not allow Trump to do more damage. Congress must act now," said Thanedar.
In addition to him, similar initiatives were announced by Al Green, also for Trump, and Ilhan Omar for members of Trump's cabinet, with a special focus on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
However, it is worth noting that this initiative, as well as similar ones that have been announced, do not have a great chance of passing. It must first pass through the Judiciary Committee of the US House of Representatives, which is controlled by the Republican Party.
Even if it manages to pass this committee, Trump's Republican Party has majorities in both houses of Congress, and this initiative will probably be "shut down."
It should also be noted that the Senate, where a two-thirds majority is required to impeach a US president, "saved" Trump twice in his first term, when the House of Representatives, controlled by the Democratic Party, voted to impeach him.
