U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered prosecutor Pam Bondi to initiate proceedings for the public release of Grand Jury testimony related to Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking case. Trump announced this decision on his Truth Social account, citing the “absurd attention Jeffrey Epstein has received.”
One minute before issuing this order, Trump announced that he would sue The Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch over a report claiming that unpublished Department of Justice documents related to Epstein included an “inappropriate” letter allegedly sent by Trump to the late sex offender. According to the report, the letter contained a sketch of a naked female silhouette and a typed personal message, and was part of a birthday collection compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell.
Trump denied being the author of the birthday letter and condemned The Journal’s story as “false,” calling it an “Epstein hoax.” In his statement, he demanded an end to the “SCAM being run by the Democrats,” adding that the release of Grand Jury testimony “must stop immediately!”
Prosecutor Pam Bondi quickly responded on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “President Trump, we’re ready as soon as tomorrow to request the court to unseal the Grand Jury records.” Bondi has recently come under fire from far-right Trump supporters, who accused her of mishandling the release of previously classified Epstein documents.
Although the Grand Jury testimony represents a separate set of documents from the letter, and may contain information about Epstein’s victims, Trump’s order reflects an attempt to ease tensions surrounding how his administration handled the investigation files.
