Washington, D.C., October 20, 2025 — Former President Donald Trump has drawn widespread criticism after posting an AI-generated video mocking the nationwide “No Kings” protests held on October 18. The 19-second clip depicted Trump in a fighter jet labeled “KING TRUMP,” dropping brown sludge on protesters.
The protests, organized to challenge what participants describe as Trump’s authoritarian tendencies, reportedly attracted over seven million participants across more than 2,600 events nationwide. Major demonstrations took place in cities like New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles, featuring speeches emphasizing the need to defend democratic norms.
Trump dismissed the protests as “a joke,” labeling attendees as “whacked out” and accusing “radical left groups” of funding the rallies. “I’m not a king. I work my ass off to make our country great,” he said, rejecting comparisons to monarchy.
The AI-generated video sparked widespread backlash online, with critics arguing it trivializes legitimate political dissent and mocks peaceful protesters. In addition, the White House shared an edited image of Trump and Vice President JD Vance wearing crowns, further fueling tensions.
Republican leaders largely downplayed the protests, while participants called the demonstrations a powerful statement against perceived authoritarianism and a defense of democratic values.
The “No Kings” protests mark one of the largest coordinated displays of dissent in recent U.S. history, highlighting growing concerns over the balance of power and the protection of democratic norms in the country.
