US President Donald Trump has called on Israel and Hamas to reach an agreement to free the hostages taken in the October 7 attack.
The announcement came just hours after Trump called for a second time on Israeli prosecutors to drop the criminal case against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu is currently engaged in negotiations with Hamas that could result in the hostages being released.
Israeli security officials believe that about 20 hostages are still alive. At the same time, Hamas and other militant factions operating in the Gaza Strip are reportedly holding the bodies of the slain hostages, further complicating the negotiation process.
