At least 144 people have died, and 732 have been injured in a powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar, according to the state television MRTV on the Telegram platform, as reported by Reuters.
The strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, hit Myanmar at around 12:50 PM local time.
A subsequent aftershock, with a magnitude of 6.4, struck the region about 12 minutes after the initial earthquake.
The tremor was felt in Thailand and China.
