"If we are calling for a general strike, we must also go on a political strike," they said, according to Autonomija.

More than 30 city councilors from Novi Sad and deputies in the Serbian and Vojvodina assemblies blocked the City Hall in Novi Sad today

Uniformed police arrived in front of the entrance to the City Hall.

The opposition said they would block the work of the City Hall, which is the seat of the mayor and city government.

They blocked the entrance to the City Hall with furniture.

"We are blocking the institutions as a call for a strike. The opposition is joining the strike, we are blocking political institutions. As of today, the city is blocked. We will remain in the City Hall until further notice. Until those responsible are held accountable, there will be no work. We will not allow anyone to trample on us anymore: to blood the flag of our Novi Sad, our Vojvodina, our Serbia,” they said in a live broadcast on social media.

They called on all councilors and MPs across Serbia to do the same and to start mass blockades of institutions and strikes.

The media is reporting that the police have also entered the building and are expelling the councilors.

There was also a fight between the police and opposition councilors, N1 reports.

“Let the City Hall go,” they can be heard saying, according to Belgrade media.
