It is the ninth day of civil blockades in Serbia. Read the key developments below:

20:31 Student actions postponed on Wednesday due to the difficult situation with fires

Novi Sad students have announced that tomorrow's civil disobedience actions are postponed due to the difficult situation with fires in southern Serbia.

17:51 Petition against police brutality against student Luka M.

A petition has been launched among employees of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad with a protest note against police brutality against student Luka M.

The petition states that employees of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad express their strongest protest against the inappropriately harsh treatment of police officers towards student Luka M., who was brutally beaten by the police after a student protest held on June 28, 2025:

“On that occasion, Luka’s upper jaw, cheekbone and nose were broken, his eye socket was injured, and he also suffered a fractured frontal bone. Despite such serious injuries, he was kept in a police vehicle for six hours without receiving emergency medical care. Several days after the operation, Luka lies in the hospital handcuffed to a hospital bed,” states the text of the petition, which most strongly condemns the excessive use of force and failure to provide timely emergency medical care to Luka M.

13:33 Police officers pull out a student's hair

The Nova.rs portal has obtained disturbing footage of police treatment of a student last week during a blockade in front of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade. The police intervention occurred due to a traffic blockage, and the footage shows a police officer and a female officer brutally treating the girl and pulling her hair in an attempt to, as is suspected, unlock her phone.

The footage was taken on the night between Wednesday and Thursday when the brutal police intervention took place in front of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade.

The footage shows plainclothes police treating detained persons at a bus stop. On one side of the stop are bound men, pinned to the glass, and on the other, a female student, surrounded by plainclothes police officers.
