The European Union has announced that it is suspending its countermeasures, which were introduced in response to tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, for a period of 90 days, according to BBC.
In a statement, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the EU wants "to give negotiations a chance," after Trump announced yesterday that the 90-day suspension would also apply to countries affected by higher U.S. import tariffs, as reported by BBC and quoted by N1.
Earlier today, Ursula von der Leyen described Trump’s decision to delay the implementation of high tariffs on several dozen countries for three months as an important step toward stabilizing the global economy.
She also stated that the European Union aims for constructive negotiations with the U.S., with the goal of achieving mutually beneficial trade exchanges.
