Anton Gerashchenko, an advisor and former deputy minister in the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, announced on the X network that the United States voted against a United Nations resolution on cooperation between the UN and the Council of Europe because it mentioned Russian aggression against Ukraine.
According to Jonathan Schreyer, acting US representative to the UN Economic and Social Council, one of the reasons for this decision was that the resolution “repeates allegations of war between Russia and Ukraine that the United States does not consider useful for progress towards peace.”
The resolution was also not supported by Russia, Belarus, Mali, Congo, Eritrea, Nicaragua, Niger and Sudan, while China and Iran abstained.
