The Kremlin announced on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump do not plan to have another phone conversation following the visit of Putin’s envoy for investments to Washington, as reported by N1.
NBC News reported on Thursday that Trump’s inner circle is advising him not to speak with Putin again until the Russian leader commits to a complete ceasefire in Ukraine, something Putin has said he is generally open to, but only if a long list of his conditions are met.
Kiril Dmitriev, Putin’s envoy for investment cooperation, said on Thursday that he sees a “positive dynamic” in relations between Moscow and Washington after two days of meetings in Washington, but he added that more meetings are needed to resolve differences.
"Without a doubt, we notice a positive dynamic in our relations. A series of meetings will still be required to resolve all our differences. But the main thing is that we see a positive, creative attitude," Dmitriev said to reporters after meeting with officials from President Donald Trump’s administration, as quoted by Russian news agencies.
He added that they absolutely see that the president’s administration is determined to solve issues, unlike that of Joe Biden.
"They approach with great respect, ask many questions, and find compromises," he said.
Dmitriev mentioned that some of the topics discussed in Washington were cooperation in rare mineral production and the Arctic.
He also stated that agreements are ongoing to restore direct air links between Russia and the U.S.
