Students and Cyclists Depart from Novi Sad to Strasbourg: "Europe Has Been Sleeping for Too Long"

Author: M.J. GDNUS

A group of students and members of the academic community have embarked on a bike ride to the seat of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg to draw the attention of European officials to the situation in Serbia. Accompanying them are reporters from N1 and Nova TV.

The students began their journey on April 3, a day before Student Day, and are expected to arrive on April 17, according to their announcement.

Vladimir Beljanski, President of the Vojvodina Bar Association, is joining the students on the ride to Strasbourg and has sent a strong message: "Europe has been sleeping for too long."

“This is a major battle for the students, and we, as lawyers, have supported them from the very beginning. When I first heard about this journey, the only thing I thought about was whether I would be able to keep up, given my physical condition. But I’m going with them. They are the stars of the program. I hope we can keep up with them,” Beljanski said in an interview with N1.

This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to raise awareness in Europe about the ongoing issues in Serbia and to call for greater international attention to the situation. The students’ symbolic journey underscores their demand for action from European institutions.
