Several people were injured in an attack that took place in the Netherlands this morning, agencies report. Emergency services intervened just before 6 a.m. on Fanny Blankers-Koenlaan in the city of Hoofddorp, after receiving a report of an attack.
One police officer was taken to hospital, and blood was visible on the police vehicle. Police confirmed in a statement on the X network that they received a report of an attack on Fanny Blankers-Koenlaan at around 6 a.m.
“Several people were injured, including one of our colleagues. Numerous emergency services and the Emergency Medical Response Team (EMRT) are on the scene. The area has been cordoned off. The investigation is ongoing. More information soon,” the police said.
Footage and photos on social media show at least five ambulances, and a police helicopter has been sent to the scene.
According to the Dutch news agency ANP, two people were killed in the attack, but police have not yet confirmed this information.
