Đukanović: Candidates who proudly point out their SNP origin are proud of their anti-Montenegrin ideas

I will defeat all the opponents, who inherit anti-Montenegrin and anti-European ideas, said Milo Đukanović, president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and candidate of that party in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for March 19.
At the beginning of his address at the tribune in Herceg Novi, at the beginning of his address, the president indicated how he legitimizes himself in these elections.
This is my ID
I legitimize with the preserved peace in Montenegro at the beginning of the nineties, established by the economic self-sustainability of Montenegro in 1994, when we said that we do not want anyone to touch us, that threatens our national dignity, we do not want any of us to expect us to follow their national values because of that. interests because we have our own national interests. I legitimize myself by the fact that we saved Montenegro from the bombing in 1999. I legitimize myself with the signed Belgrade agreement with Serbia in 2001, when it was necessary to reduce tensions and prepare Montenegro for holding a referendum. I legitimize myself with a democratic referendum, fulfilled by Europe's expectations regarding the highest democratic standards for the organization of that democratic procedure. Therefore, I legitimize myself with the fact that this is the first time in the history of the Balkans that one state has been created without shedding blood - pointed out Đukanović.
It is legitimized, as he said, by the fact that, after taking the helm into their own hands, they "knew where we were going to go".
Contrary to the overall Montenegrin history in which our ancestors were looking towards the East, we said - we are a part of Europe, not only historically, not only geographically, we are culturally a part of Europe, we want to be a valuable part of Europe. We sent members of NATO. If someone thinks it was easy, they probably wondered these days how two much more powerful, larger and developed countries like Sweden and Finland, which expressed their desire to be part of NATO, still haven't gone through that procedure, still haven't received everyone's consent member of NATO to become a member, and Montenegro got it. I legitimize myself by the fact that today we are in the lobby of the European Union, and that is my legitimation. There remains the final step towards membership in the European Union, I told you when we will fulfill that too - said Đukanović.
Shut up poša' - shut up dosha'
Đukanović pointed out that in this, as he described, general papacy during the pre-election campaign, one can hear and read all kinds of things.
That's how I read the statements of one of my opponents, the young co-leader of the Europe Now movement, who says that Đukanović is walking around Montenegro with pockets full of empty promises. I felt the need to share this reminder with you tonight simply so that we would all wonder together whether my promises are empty or fulfilled... In Old Montenegro, of which I am a descendant, there was a folk joke for someone who remains unsuccessful throughout his life. Well, they say "shuto poša" - shuto doša' - said Đukanović.
On the basis of the above, he concluded that someone can go to higher education institutions, like this mentioned opponent of his, that he can also be successful at those schools, but that it is not a question of school, but a question of good home education.
If someone who has never met me in his life, today gives himself the right to talk about full or empty pockets - only an ill-educated person can do that - Đukanović was clear.
Presidential candidates who proudly point out their SNP origins are proud of their anti-Montenegrin ideas
Đukanović then referred to his remaining opponents.
So they were on the other side. They are running today to be the president of the country, of course I'm not talking about all of them, I'm not talking about the SDP candidate, I'm not talking about any completely new and young people, I'm talking about the leader of the Democratic Front and I'm talking about those who proudly point out their SNP- origin, and we know that the SNP was a political articulation of all anti-Montenegrin and anti-European ideas - said Đukanović.
Citizens will not trust those who were against the restoration of statehood
The president pointed out that Montenegro is emancipating, homogenizing, overcoming some historical divisions, because, as he points out, we need that in order to be more successful.
It is good that Montenegro is showing its new democratic culture by the fact that today even those who were against Montenegro are running to become the president of Montenegro. All this is good, because I am convinced that the citizens of Montenegro will not fail and will not give their trust to those who were against the restoration of this country. But of course they shouldn't get carried away by the fact that we are not mature enough to be able to distinguish very well what is patriotism and what is servitude to other people's interests, what is responsible politics and what is the simplest possible populism and manipulation - said Đukanović.
Do we want to take the road to Europe or detours?
Đukanović assessed that these are the elections in which we have to choose whether we will continue to build Montenegro as a serious and orderly European state and continue on the path we are on moved until August 30, 2020, or, as he pointed out, we will continue along these detours that Montenegro is moving on, thanks to the unknown and irresponsible government during the last two and a half years.
Therefore, our goal, at least as parents, is for our children to continue living in this country, the most beautiful on the planet. Our goal is for them to live here freely and richly, richer than our generation lived. Let's not forget, we already live much richer than our parents' generations. Therefore, the continuity of development is present. As parents, we just have to do everything we can. So, now we have to do to preserve the state of Montenegro, to preserve it on the European path, to preserve it as stable and civil, to open a clear path to a very achievable goal - membership in the European Union - as I told you - during of my next presidential mandate, and then we can say that as citizens of Montenegro and as parents we have fulfilled our mission - said Đukanović.
To build Montenegro as a civil state
In the continuation of his presentation, Đukanović once again repeated and pointed out what are the three important priorities that we need to do for Montenegro in the coming period.
First, we must unwaveringly continue to build Montenegro as a civil state. Nationalisms have revived again in the Balkans. Aggressive large-state projects once again set their sights on Montenegro. If we thought that these projects were buried in the wars of the early nineties, we are wrong. Those retrograde ideas are tenacious. Montenegro has been struggling with them continuously since at least the middle of the 19th century. Every now and then, and in every opportunity or adversity, aspirations towards the state of Montenegro are revived. So, even today, big-state nationalisms think that Montenegro is their natural right. The force with which we resist these nationalist ideas is, in fact, the civil state - said Đukanović.
He would like, as he says, to be able to share the knowledge that he does not have that there is some good alternative of the DPS to the realization of such a policy.
We have seen from the overall experience, especially from this last two-and-a-half-year experience, what risks Montenegro runs into when it does not have that permanent staff, civic policy and stability of Montenegro. The Democratic Party of Socialists is the backbone of civil Montenegro. When you have a strong spine, then it is possible to add many more useful ingredients that strengthen the stability of the organism. But if you don't have a backbone, then you have nowhere to add - stated Đukanović.
Returning to the policy of dynamic economic development
As another important priority, the president stated - returning to the policy of dynamic economic development of Montenegro.
The fourteen years in which we governed Montenegro, after the restoration of independence until August 30, 2020, were the years in which Montenegro bore the epithet of the most dynamic economy in southeastern Europe. That was the time when we invested one billion euros in the first section of the highway, one billion euros in the submarine cable to Italy, 800 million euros in Portonova, 700 million euros in Porto Montenegro. That was the time when we invested 150-200 million in the realization of projects in the north of Montenegro, above all in the development of the infrastructure of winter ski centers - the president listed only some of the big ones done in the previous period.
Capital is not the only valuable thing that comes with a foreign investor, but it is projects that open up a wide range of new employment. These are the years in which we drastically reduced unemployment as historically the most difficult social problem in Montenegro. And within it, we must seriously deal with the stabilization of the public finances of Montenegro - said Đukanović.
Improving the standard of living in a responsible way
Đukanović said that he wants the state and citizens to have an improved standard of living, better wages, pensions, health care, and education "because that makes for quality of life, but what we know very well by managing your households is that you can't spend more than you have."
If you spend more in your household than you have, in a month, two, three or five you will be in a situation of family bankruptcy. It is the same with the state. Unfortunately, we have come to that now. That is why we must urgently restore order in the Montenegrin business environment, we must create conditions for businesses to revive so that we can improve the standard of living on that basis, everything else is ordinary populism, everything else is a very cheap political deception - said Đukanović.
In my next mandate, Montenegro becomes a member of the EU
And as the third priority in the coming period, Đukanović states that in the next five years of his mandate, Montenegro becomes a member of the European Union.
I tell you this with absolute responsibility. We don't need more than two and a half to three years to finish that work, to remove that sign from the border crossing at Debela Brijeg and to become an integral part of the EU - said Đukanović.
Đukanović once again confirmed that he has no doubt that he will defeat all his opponents in the presidential elections on March 19 this year.
Because immediately after that we need parliamentary elections in which this country will get a responsible host of the house, on which this country will get a competent and nationally responsible government. Only then can we say that we have finished the job, only then will we return Montenegro to a state of political normality, because what we have been living in for the last two and a half years is still not normal. We need a responsible and competent government in order to complete this work that I indicated by mentioning these three things to you - he pointed out.
This is not just one man's battle, but all of us
According to him, no individual can win this battle against crazed big-state nationalism, against clericalism, against foreign influences - anti-Montenegrin and anti-European.
I stopped at the line and I am going towards that victory and I am convinced of it. But I stopped at the line relying on you and relying on people like you throughout Montenegro. The good news is that there is not much time until the election. So, there are ten to twelve days ahead of us in which we need to relax, in which we need to forget about other preoccupations, in which we need to do what is in the interest of our state house and our posterity. We should all imagine ourselves and imagine all those we talk to these days. Will we be able to sleep peacefully on March 20, if we don't do what we have to do by March 19 - Đukanović concluded.
