Đukanović on Dodik's visit: Nationalists did not learn lessons from the death

AUTHOR: M.J.
The rise of the right is very dangerous, not only in the Balkans, where nationalism has reared its head again. We prematurely hoped that they were buried in the wars that ended with the Dayton Peace. Right-wing has become very dangerous and very profitable today. The EU must defend itself with the superiority of its policy. It seems to me that we do not deal with it enough in Europe. I think it is the last warning sign and that we have to defend the EU, said the former president of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović.
Đukanović said that he does not see an alternative to democracy, the rule of law, the market economy, reports Dnevni avaz.
That's why I think it's in our greatest interest to preserve those values - he pointed out.
He also commented on the recent visit of the president of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, to Montenegro.
The relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are very exemplary, as evidenced by many events from our recent history. As a man who has been involved in state politics for a long time, I can testify that there was friendship and understanding. When there are geopolitical disturbances such as we see today, when the era of idyll between East and West is over, then the nationalists use it as a good time to achieve their goals - said Đukanović.
He adds that the nationalists have not learned the lessons from the previous deaths.
The nationalists did not draw a lesson from the death of 150 thousand people that their policy was wrong, but they drew the conclusion that they did not have a good time and that today, when relations are strained, their ideas could be realized - believes Đukanović.
He places the provocations from Dodik's visit in that context.
It is an irresponsible policy that tries to muddy the clear water between our two countries - said Đukanović.
