Šehović: The government should finally announce its clear position on the UN Resolution on Srebrenica, instead of using random tactics

AUTHOR: M.J.
Instead of tactlessly and unskillfully, and when it already lacks the courage to find itself in the company of several dozen countries that co-sponsored the United Nations (UN) Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, the Government should tighten its grip and finally announce its clear position on this, not a political one. , rather than an ethical issue, said the president of the Social Democrats (SDCG), Damir Šehović.

- Any further political prevarication and proposing amendments on things that are not mentioned in the Resolution at all, would be a humiliation not only of the Government, but of the country it represents, which already announced its attitude towards this topic in 2021 in the Parliament of Montenegro by adopting the Resolution on the ban on denying the genocide in Srebrenica, of which I was one of the signatories for pleasure - said Šehović.

He repeated that during the parliamentary discussion he said that "there are no genocidal nations".

- Which otherwise no normal person has ever claimed, but there are genocidal policies, that is, individuals who must remain in history as war criminals, not heroes and idols, as some retrograde structures, which are still vital in Montenegro, persistently want to be. their performances - concluded Šehović.

We remind you that, with the mediation of the USA, Montenegro will submit two amendments to the German Resolution on Srebrenica in order to achieve better relations and calm political tension in the region.

The amendments supposedly envisage the individualization of guilt for the genocide in Srebrenica, but also the insistence on strict respect for Dayton.

As previously reported by the Public Service portal, the first amendment reads:

- repeating that guilt for the crime of genocide is individualized and cannot be attributed to any ethnic, religious or other group or community as a whole,

and others:

- confirming the inviolability of the general framework agreement for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina in all its provisions.

The Government told RTCG that they are of the opinion that these amendments prevent any potential manipulation to the detriment of Serbia and the Serbian people in terms of any legal and political repercussions and prevent the narrative as well as the intention that a nation wants to be declared genocidal.
