In Montenegro, instead of harmonizing with European standards and in the field of security, there is a serious collapse of the system and increasingly frequent examples of violence, in various forms - said a group of citizens who gathered today in front of the Government of Montenegro to express their protest under the slogan "We are Europe ", symbolically associated with the day of the EU.
They sent requests to the department, which is headed by Filip Adžić in a technical mandate, asking it to "act in accordance with its responsibilities and duties, which is to protect the citizens of Montenegro, and not at all to relativize what is really happening".
Attacks that are defined as ethnic violence are the most present. An example is the recent shameful and serious incidents in Bar and Ulcinj, when members of the youth fraternities of the Church of Serbia were violent. The police arrested and released the attackers!? What kind of message does it send to the citizens of Montenegro? Is it a sign of support for bullies? A sign that I can move on? And they and their like-minded people - asked a group of citizens.
Which is why, as they add, no investigations have ever been carried out in connection with church fraternities within the Church of Serbia in Montenegro, whose members, as they stated, in addition to threats, are now committing violence on a daily basis.
It is a special request that, in the light of the events that have befallen Serbia, and the increased peer violence in Montenegro, do everything in your power to protect what is most valuable, namely our children. Apart from this, which represents a confrontation with a serious reality, the law is violated in Montenegro on several grounds. One of the last serious warnings sent by ODIHR is that a comprehensive revision of the voter list is needed. The legal right to be familiar with voter lists has been denied to us - said a group of citizens.
They invite, as they add, all those directly responsible in the state of Montenegro to seriously deal with the mentioned problems.
Citizens will be persistent and persistent in the fight for their basic rights. We want all employees in the system, first and foremost those who lead them, to understand their obligations and duties and to perform them in accordance with the laws and the Constitution. It is our civic responsibility not to allow matters of public interest such as those listed to be put on the back burner or silenced. We demand action in accordance with the law and the responsibility of managers in the first place, then the officials in the system - said a group of citizens and said "Long live Montenegro, Europe, happy day, death to fascism".
A minute of silence for the victims in Serbia
The protest in front of the Government building began with a minute of silence in honor of the victims of two mass shootings in Serbia.
The gathered citizens carried the flags of Montenegro and the European Union, while on the banners you can see the messages: "No to the Open Balkans, yes to the European Union", "Peace and freedom are the basis of a healthy society", "Fight for democracy", "Let's protect our children". ..
Symbolically, anti-fascist songs were played over the public address system.
"It's time for a new time"
Veoleta Senić addressed the crowd, emphasizing that peace and freedom were important to them today, and always throughout history, but that their lives remind them of the constant endangerment of both.
Instead of the path to the EU, the current and previous Government brought us first a standstill, and then a setback in European integration and a missed chance to join the family of European countries. Instead of full trade cooperation with EU member states, they offer us Open Balkan. For them, the arranged voter list is a mental noun, even though it was precisely those who are now in power who criticized it a few years ago. Hate speech washes over us from all sides, wherever we are. Every day, our children suffer peer violence for which the state does not want to find a solution, and key ministers wash their hands of everything worse than Pontius Pilate. And when they don't wash their hands, they relativize the problem of peer violence by insulting our dignity. And then we have to rightly ask ourselves where are we??? Is this the civic, ecological, multi-ethnic, European Montenegro that they don't take out of their mouths? Is this their advocating for European integration, for which they only speak in words and do not act? Is this the anti-fascist Montenegro that stands silently in front of a new wave of violence that is escalating more and more every day - asked Senić.
She reminded that the first uprising against fascism was started in Montenegro.
And today, as descendants of the first insurgents, we just stand and silently observe the things that need to be fought against - Senić added.
Today, as he says, we celebrate the day of Europe and the day of victory over fascism "which was never completely defeated, but only masked by some seemingly "more beautiful and peaceful ideologies".
We who are here today, who inherit and preserve civil, anti-fascist, anti-war values, who do not let ourselves be swayed and believe in the European path of Montenegro, we are telling our "deposed" government and all future governments after it, that they must never again to question Montenegro's European path. The European way to support over 2/3 of the citizens of Montenegro, who guarantees us prosperity, who guarantees us stability and peace. And peace is always the greatest value, both 80 years ago and today - said Senić.
The peace that preserved Montenegro in the 90s, says Senić, must not be broken because of someone's megalomaniac desires.
And we free citizens must not allow that to happen - she emphasized.
She told the ruling structures that they want a country with zero tolerance for hate speech.
We want open lists. We want a clear direction and path to the European Union without further regression. We want a European Montenegro with the EU as its main partner. A message to our foreign partners from the EU and the US that we will not stand in the way of the EU, and Montenegro, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve and need your unquestionable support, every day. A message for citizens of Montenegro: It's time for a new era. We are the strength - citizens who will no longer remain silent on the violation of basic human rights. The strength is in us - said Senić.
As previously announced, the citizens will address the representatives of the Government of Montenegro, which has received the trust to work on the EU agenda and further integration, to remind them of everything that was the main reason for the vote of confidence.
