A group of RTCG workers sent a letter to four addresses in the European Commission, President Ursula von der Leyen, Johan Satler, EC ambassador to Montenegro, EC spokeswoman Anna Pisonero, as well as Peter Stan, chief spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy.
The letter is signed by: Časlav Vujotić, Slaven Knezović, Srđan Čović, Tanja Šuković, Mladen Vukčević, Snežana Rakonjac, Sabrija Vulić, Nataša Baranin and Žarko Božović.
"Recently, a law was passed in Montenegro that allows the general director of the Public Service to be a person with only five years of work experience, which has reduced the previous criterion according to which the head of that institution had to have at least 10 years of work in the media with a university degree. Instead of such a item and made it even easier for a novice to run for the head of the Public Service once again illegal according to the court's decision.
The Prosecutor's Office has not sanctioned anyone for this so far, nor has it undertaken executive actions that should characterize the rule of law.
And the legislation provided access to such a person to usurp the resources of the largest state-owned media company again," the letter states.
They say that Milojko Spajić, Prime Minister of Montenegro, when asked why this is being done, facilitates the re-election of the controversial director, and that he instructed that the European Commission is behind it.
"Please explain to us if this is true: what are the reasons?", a group of RTCG workers worried about the collapse of the reputation of their institution and the devastation of its resources stated in the letter.
