"We will not allow an increase in water prices wherever the Europe Now Movement is in local government, neither in Podgorica, nor in Danilovgrad, nor anywhere else. After this statement by the Prime Minister, the ruling majority in Danilovgrad adopted a decision increasing the price of water by 50 percent. Not long after, the legal team of the Podgorica Waterworks made a decision that the price of water will increase by 40 percent from January 1," recalled Mihailo Anđušić, a member of the Democratic Party of Socialists.
This, he says, is perhaps the best demonstration of the Prime Minister's (ir)responsibility towards citizens so far.
"The most striking example of the realization of promises made by the Prime Minister, the Government and the current parliamentary majority. In the end, this is the best example of the negative consequences of the Europe Now (ES) program, which are currently experiencing their greatest momentum. It is difficult to expect anything better from the Prime Minister and the Government who claim that today we have deflation in Montenegro, while they are looking for special prices for products in the markets to convince us of what they themselves do not believe in," said Andjušić.
He pointed out that after the adoption of the fiscal strategy and the ES2 program, there is almost no segment of society and the economy where "the hand has not been put in the pockets of citizens and every part of the Europe Now program and every modest increase in wages has not been paid in full".
"Through such levies, such as increases in utility services, announced increases in electricity prices, with a general increase in prices against which nothing is being done, the standard of living and purchasing power of citizens have never been worse. The perniciousness of such economic and social policy is best reflected in the fact that those who are most affected by these effects were rewarded with an increase in wages of only six percent or less than forty euros through the long-awaited ES2 program?! The promised amount, however, was somewhat different and almost five times higher, but it was allocated to those who had the least need for it. No, these are not the beneficiaries of material security whose benefits are on hold, but the highest state officials whose salaries will be increased by 30 percent?! Such arrogance, where the government ignores vulnerable citizens and rewards itself despite the catastrophic results it produces, is the shameful legitimacy of this government," Anđušić emphasized.
He points out that "the promises that the government made, but did not fulfill, nor does it intend to fulfill, are proof that populism was used for mere manipulation and deception of citizens."
"1. The average salary in October is not 1,000 euros. 2. There is no increase in salaries for everyone by 25 percent. 3. There is no minimum wage of 700 euros. 4. The average pension is not 600 euros. 5. There is no increase in proportional pensions. 6. We do not have full employment. 7. There is no 7-hour working day. 8. There is no capital budget of 900 million. 9. There are not even shovels for the highway and expressways. 10. There are no promised billions of euros of foreign investment. If those in power thought they would stay in power by deceiving citizens indefinitely, then they were wrong. In every new election, the parties that form the government face devastating results. This is their punishment for all their dilettantism, ignorance and irresponsibility, as well as underestimating the intelligence of citizens and the delusion that they can deceive them brutally and indefinitely," concluded Andjušić.
