What is known about Balijagić so far?
As RTCG writes, the police have been looking for the suspect Balijagić for 15 days for another criminal offense - the theft of a rifle.
He was also convicted of the criminal offense of rape in 2016.
He was sentenced in the Bijelo Polje High Court, presided over by Vukomir Bošković, to seven years in prison, after raping a seventy-six-year-old woman on October 30, 2015, in a suburban settlement in Bijelo Polje.
"There are no traces of my DNA, and that's why I think it's a classic set-up," he claimed during the trial.
The indictment states that on October 30, 2015, around 7:00 p.m., in the Lješnica settlement, he assaulted a 76-year-old woman using force and threatening her life.
"A.B. came to her house and pushed her from the hallway into the kitchen, grabbed her by the shoulders and told her to take off her clothes," the indictment states.
After that, he also shot at the police, the Standard reported earlier today.
According to the PV portal, in November 2015, during a robbery, Balijagić took a weapon from one of the houses in his village while the household members were sleeping, and it is suspected that he committed several thefts in Banji Selo, Oklad and Pavino Polje.
In those areas, he is remembered as a bandit who broke into the forests, and because of numerous robberies and bandit thefts and other acts, he spent about two decades in prison.
At the end of the eighties, he was suspected of several thefts in the surrounding villages, after which he moved to neighboring Serbia.
Before he fell into the hands of the anti-terrorist unit of the MUP of Montenegro in 2003, he committed a series of thefts and robberies in the villages of Prijepolje, Priboj and Čajetina municipalities, near the villages of Novovaro, breaking into elderly households, hiding from pursuit and fear and trembling in the mountain villages.
In May of last year, he was beaten by three neighbors, causing serious physical injuries, for which proceedings are still ongoing in the Basic Court.
He then claimed that he had calmed down, that his brothers and sisters who live abroad help him financially, and that he wants to lead a peaceful and honest life, even though he feels rejected by society.
