The Center for Civic Education congratulates the employees of RTCG on their anniversary, which is celebrated on November 27, with the hope that it will become a true service, not its simulation, the NGO announced.
"RTCG must be a space for free dialogue, without blacklists of topics and interlocutors, in which respect for the law and professional standards will not be the exception, but the minimum.
Unfortunately, RTCG is known for its numerous controversies, and more recently for its management's refusal to implement final court decisions, its unacceptable mistreatment of employees it does not recognize as "suitable", all of which is accompanied by ongoing court proceedings, as well as investigative procedures initiated by the prosecutor's office. Additionally, live news programs broadcast in prime time feature occasional guest appearances by those who consistently and well-arguedly criticize the authorities, but also point out problems in RTCG.
Citizens deserve a transparent, impartial and responsible public service that will serve the public interest, and not the interests of privileged individuals or political structures, as is the case now. CCE is fighting for such a public service," they said in a statement.
